Nutritional Reference Value (NRV)

The percentage values listed on supplement labels are calculated based on the Nutritional Reference Value (NRF) for the respective nutrient.

BRD (Bionutrient Recommended Daily Allowance) is a scientific benchmark that indicates the daily recommended intake for healthy individuals.
Supplement labels typically state the percentage of the recommended dose of a vitamin or mineral that meets the BRD. This percentage is important for assessing whether the product truly provides the required amount.

Supplements with BRD levels far below the recommended daily intake (RD) may be insufficient, while excessively high levels, especially for fat-soluble vitamins, can pose a risk of toxicity. Therefore, attention should be paid to the BRD percentage when evaluating a supplement.

Content Amount Per Unit Dose

Supplements can be offered in various forms (capsules, tablets, sachets, etc.); therefore, it is important to check which dosage or method of use the stated amount refers to.
For example, of two capsule products containing the same substance, one may state the amount per capsule, while the other may state the recommended daily dose (e.g., 2 capsules). Checking which quantity the values on the label refer to is crucial for understanding the correct dosage. Products that provide the same effect with fewer units may be more advantageous.
