Content Analysis
Patented Active Ingredient

Solgar sources the patented Ester-C® raw material from The Ester C Company, which developed the Ester-C® brand. This raw material is a special vitamin C complex containing calcium ascorbate and metabolites.
The Ester C Company is a brand under the same umbrella as Solgar. Both were formerly part of The Bountiful Company, which was acquired by Nestlé Health Science in 2021, and currently operate under the Nestlé Health Science umbrella.
Cost Impact of the Patented Form
Because Ester-C production requires a specialized process, it is costly. This can be reflected in product prices, making it more expensive compared to conventional ascorbic acid products at similar dosages. However, this difference may not offer a meaningful benefit for every user.
Origin of raw materials
Place of manufacture: Holbrook and Ronkonkoma, New York, USA

Stomach Tolerance
This form is non-acidic; it does not disrupt stomach pH.
Therefore, it is better tolerated, especially in individuals with gastritis, reflux, or sensitive stomach problems.
Quality Certificates
Food Supplement
Approval Certificate
In Turkey, a food supplement brand must obtain permission from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to be marketed. This process requires obtaining a “Food Supplement Approval Certificate” for each supplement product manufactured .
The sale of products without this Food Supplement Approval is prohibited and poses a risk to public health.
GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certification
Manufacturer:
Solgar Vitamin and Herb (under Nestlé Health Science)

The facility has NSF-GMP registration in the USA . This certification verifies that the facility follows strict guidelines for producing dietary supplements, guaranteeing product quality, safety, and consistency. NSF-GMP registration is for the manufacturing location only and does not cover product testing.
ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System
ISO 2200 certification is not available.
General Information
Auxiliary Assets
The non-vitamin C components in Solgar Ester-C Plus are not present in sufficient doses for therapeutic effect, and claims of synergistic effects have not been clinically proven. The product’s effect is primarily based on the gastric tolerance and intracellular persistence of the Ester-C™ form.
High Dose Vitamin C
Although this form is expected to be better tolerated, gastrointestinal side effects should be considered with high doses. Therefore, it is recommended that individuals with heightened gastric sensitivity take it in divided doses.
Chronic high-dose use carries a risk of kidney stone formation. Routine or long-term use of high doses is not necessary for everyone.
